How to Learn About and Use the Student Free Plan

Meteor Store offers a free plan for student users. This article explains eligibility requirements, how to apply, and how the student plan differs from a regular account.

What is the Student Free Plan

The Student Free Plan is a benefit for currently enrolled students on Meteor Store. Once your student status is verified through your school email, your account will be flagged as a student, giving you free access to select products and features.

The student plan is ongoing — as long as your student status remains valid, you continue to have access.

Eligibility

To apply for the student plan you must:

• Have a registered and signed-in Meteor Store account.
• Have a valid school email address (typically ending in .edu, though Chinese university .edu.cn addresses are equally accepted).
• The school email must not already be used for student verification on another Meteor Store account.

The student plan is open to all currently enrolled students regardless of country, region, or academic level.

Application steps

Step 1: Go to the student plan page

After signing in, visit the Student Plan page or find the relevant entry point on your Account page.

Step 2: Enter your school email

The page will show an input field for your school email address. Use the real email assigned by your school (not a personal email address). The verification email will be sent to this address.

Step 3: Submit the application

Click the submit button. The system will send a verification email to your school address.

Step 4: Click the verification link

Check your school inbox for the verification email and click the verification link inside. The link will open the Meteor Store website in your browser and complete verification automatically.

On success, the page will show a green confirmation and your account will be marked as a student. You can then go to your Account page — the identity card will display the student indicator.

If automatic verification does not work

If your school email cannot receive external messages (common with some university email systems), you can use the manual verification channel. A yellow notice box at the bottom of the student plan page explains the process. You will need to send an application email from your school address to meteor@stu.gpnu.edu.cn for manual processing by an administrator.

Manual verification takes some processing time — please be patient.

How it differs from a regular account

Student account vs. regular account:

• Student accounts may receive discounts or free access to select products. The specific products and discounts are noted on their respective product pages.
• Student entitlements are independent of purchases and invite code redemptions — buying a product does not override student benefits, and vice versa.
• Student status does not affect any other account features: you can still purchase products, submit blog posts, favorite articles, and so on.
• The student indicator is visible on the identity card in your Account page.

Student plan vs. Meteor Pass:

• The student plan and Meteor Pass are two separate entitlement paths with different product coverage and validity mechanisms.
• The student plan's validity depends on your continued student status (it may lapse after graduation or leaving school).
• If you have both student status and Meteor Pass, the system merges the entitlement scopes.

Common questions

I am not a student — can I still apply?

No. Student verification requires a valid school email address. Using someone else's email is a violation of the Terms of Service.

Can one school email verify multiple accounts?

No. Each school email can only be linked to one Meteor Store account. If the email is already in use, you will need a different school email or to contact an administrator.

Does student status expire after graduation?

The validity of the student plan is tied to your student status. If you notify us that you have graduated, or if the system otherwise confirms you are no longer enrolled, your student status may be revoked. Entitlements tied solely to student status will also lapse.
